Few weeks ago ROP has published a post about twin brother and sister which were being forcibly removed from their mother’s care and taken into police custody so they could be put into a foster care. The incident went viral around 6,000 people have seen this video views are still increasing.

It was reported that the mother of these children has been in a legal battle with her abusive ex-husband over past few years, recently the mother lost the legal battle due father having more financial resources which may have influenced the decision.

In Court’s decision, police was ordered to take the children away from mother even if children resist to leave mother’s side, so they could be put in foster home against children’s wishes.
This is obviously in direct violation of UNICEF convention on the rights of child and under Family Rights Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
UNICEF Convention explains who children are, all their rights, and the responsibilities of governments. All the rights are connected, they are all equally important.
Convention states, ”when adults make decisions, they should think about how their decisions will affect children. All   adults should do what is best for children”. Governments should make sure children are protected and looked after by their parents, or by other people when this is needed. Governments should make sure that people and places responsible for looking after children are doing a good job.

Further more EU charter of fundamental rights Article 24 states, children shall have the right to such protection and care as is necessary for their well-being. They may express their views freely. Such views shall be taken into consideration on matters which concern them in accordance with their age and maturity. In all actions relating to children, whether taken by public authorities or private institutions, the child’s best interests must be a primary consideration.

Every child shall have the right to maintain on a regular basis a personal relationship and direct contact with both his or her parents, unless that is contrary to his or her interests.
In twin brother and sister’s case raw video clearly showed that children were extremely distressed and screaming while they were snatched away from their mother which no one can say in their right mind would say it was the best interest of child.
Due to some issues the video was taken down but we are hoping to put these videos up as soon as we can which shows the desperation of children and conduct of British authorities.

However, this is not the first time British court system, police or immigration authorities has conducted such actions against British families in particularly children.

It is reported by The Children’s Commissioner for England, Anne Longfield OBE issued report in England alone there are up to 15,000 British children who are forced to live in separation by British authorities. These children are growing up with one of their parents not allowed to live as a family because the Immigration Rules introduced in July 2012 do not allow both of their parents to live together in the UK.

These families are usually called skype families. The outcome of such actions is resulting these children developing psychological and physical illness which could permanently damage children however British authorities are not concerned of. There is a prominent organisation in the UK which runs campaign against these rules which are hurting family is called Reunite Families UK.
We were contacted by Teresa Whittaker who is an independent campaigner for family court reform in the UK and runs a campaign. She has put up a petition on Stop domestic abuse through the family courts  system. So far 219,491 families signed this petition, numbers are growing which shows twins case from last month is not just a separate incident but there are more and more families out there who are suffering the same fate or even worse.
